Etchings and Aquatints

 

I am a member of 12 Printmakers (12PM).  My printmaking is an extension of my preoccupation with landscape.  

 

I am finding the discipline which the etching process imposes is very good for me.  It forces consideration of a range of single tones in stages, which helps unitfy the image.  I like the similarity to tonal drawing, but I also like colour and am finding ways to incorporate it on a single plate.  I am experimenting with combining drypoint and monoprint on two separate plates to add colour tone without losing the quality of the drypoint line.
